Release Notes

What's new in IntelliWallet, version by version.

Latest

Fixed

  • Restoring a backup from the old NS Wallet app could incorrectly show a “wrong password” error. Some older wallets stored an internal counter as empty instead of zero, which the app decoded incorrectly and used to derive the wrong decryption key. The password was correct all along. This is now fixed, and affected backups restore normally.

Improvements

  • General improvements to language and localization support
  • Improved entry templates
  • Improved reliability of Face ID / Touch ID unlock
  • General stability fixes and interface polish throughout the app
Jun 11, 2026

New

  • Full app localization — 28 languages. The entire interface is now translated: English, Arabic, Belarusian, Bengali, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (Simplified), Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese — including automatic right-to-left layout for Arabic, Hebrew and Persian.
  • Language setting. A new Settings → Language screen lists all 28 languages by their native name. It defaults to “System default” and applies instantly, no restart required.
  • System field names are localized. The built-in field types (Password, E-mail, Username, and so on) now show up in your chosen language everywhere — entries, wizards, search, sharing, and trash.
  • Add fields to templates on the fly. When creating an entry from a template, a new “Add field” option lets you append any extra field type from a picker.
  • Web Login template now includes an e-mail field by default alongside username.

Fixed

  • Face ID / fingerprint unlock with “Lock immediately.” Unlocking with biometrics could previously fail right after the OS prompt appeared, because the immediate auto-lock treated the prompt itself as the app going to background. This is fixed with a short grace period.
  • Save button hidden off-screen. On several setup screens (change password, new entry, new folder, Wi-Fi QR scan, and more), the bottom action button could be pushed off-screen on small windows or with the keyboard open. All of these screens now scroll properly with the button always reachable.

New

  • First-run sample data. A brand-new wallet is no longer empty on first launch — it’s seeded with a short, localized starter set: a “Read me” entry with usage tips and links, a “Thank you” welcome note, and a “Getting Started” folder with a sample login and support contact. This only happens for genuinely new wallets — never for an imported or restored backup.

Fixed

  • PIN fields no longer show the password generator. Because PIN values are stored the same way as passwords internally, the password generator was incorrectly appearing alongside (or instead of) the PIN generator when adding or editing a PIN field. PIN fields now consistently show only the PIN generator.

Other

  • Refreshed several underlying dependencies to their latest versions to keep builds current and secure.

New

  • Cloud backup toggle, off by default. A new “Cloud backup” switch in Settings → Backup lets you choose whether your encrypted wallet file is included in your phone’s normal system backup — iCloud on iOS, Google Drive (Android Auto Backup) on Android. It stays off unless you turn it on yourself; when off, the database is explicitly excluded from both. This setting is re-checked every time the app starts, so it can’t silently drift back on.

Fixed

  • Wallet database “disappearing” after upgrading from the old NS Wallet (5.x) app. The previous Xamarin-based app stored its database in a different folder convention than the current app expects. A one-time migration now runs automatically at startup, safely moves the old database (and its journal files) to the new location, verifies the copy, and only then removes the original.

Compatibility

  • Updated to the current file-picker API used for backup import/export.
Mar 21, 2026

New

  • Entry templates. 23 ready-made templates — Web Login, Credit Card, Wi-Fi, Server/SSH, Crypto Wallet, and more — create a new entry with sensible fields already in place.
  • Fill fields now, or later. When creating an entry from a template, choose to fill in the fields immediately or leave them empty for later.
  • Removable template fields. Don’t need a field a template suggests? Remove it before creating the entry.
  • Field reordering. A new drag-and-drop screen lets you reorder the fields within an entry.
  • New CVV field type for credit card entries.

Improvements

  • Existing wallets automatically pick up any new field types on unlock — no migration step needed.
  • Updated the underlying iwcore engine to 0.1.14.
Dec 28, 2025

IntelliWallet 6.0 is a complete rewrite of the app, from the ground up.

  • New engine. Encryption, storage, search, backups and password generation now all run on iwcore, a from-scratch, open-source Rust engine — auditable line by line on GitHub, instead of a closed proprietary core.
  • New interface. The entire UI has been redesigned and rebuilt in Flutter, replacing the previous codebase entirely.
  • Faster everything. Startup, navigation and search are noticeably quicker on the new engine.
  • Your existing wallet still works. Upgrading picks up your existing data automatically — there’s no need to start over.

Same trusted, 100% offline password manager underneath — just faster, more open, and built to last.

The rebrand

  • Complete rebranding from NS Wallet to IntelliWallet. Same app, same team, same commitment to keeping your data offline — twelve years after the original NS Wallet first launched in 2012, this release carries the new name forward into the modern, fully rebuilt versions that follow.
  • Enhanced compatibility with the latest Android device specifications.
  • Fixed intermittent crashes during folder creation.
  • Updated social and support links.
  • Modernized the underlying dependency stack, laying the groundwork for the architecture used in later 6.x releases.

2015

A complete rewrite of the app from scratch, ported in full from the original Android Java codebase to Xamarin, using a single shared .NET codebase for both iOS and Android.

This replaced the two independent native codebases from Version 2.0 with one unified foundation — the same approach the app kept for the next several years, until the 2025 rewrite to Flutter and Rust in Version 6.0.

Aug 6, 2014

The app’s first release for iOS, joining the existing Android app under the name NS Wallet (the IntelliWallet name came later, with the 2024 rebrand).

For the first time, the app existed as two separate native codebases — one for Android (Java), one for iOS — built independently, but sharing the same underlying data model and philosophy established in Version 1.0.

Jun 12, 2012

The original release, for Android only, written in Java.

From day one, the app was built around one core idea that still defines IntelliWallet today: instead of a rigid, one-size-fits-all form for storing passwords, entries are made of flexible, typed fields you can mix and match freely — so the same app can hold a website login, a bank account, a Wi-Fi password, or a private note, without forcing any of them into the wrong shape.

That founding architecture — flexible fields instead of rigid forms — is the same idea that, more than a decade later, grew into iwcore’s 20+ field types and custom labels.
